Your office layout
Our working environment is different to most offices. In fact, these ways of working are the results of bigger changes that have occurred over the last decades. So what can you expect from the office layout and what is the purpose of each of the areas?
What does it look like?

Your workplace etiquette
CHOOSE THE RIGHT WORK SETTINGS
Choose the appropriate work setting to match the tasks in hand. A desk isn’t always the best place to collaborate or carry out focus/confidential work. Don’t always book a room for every meeting – open collaborative spaces and booths can be very productive.
DESKS WITH WIDE SCREENS
If you don’t need a wide screen please don’t book a desk with one. There are alternative work points to use which would then allow those who need the wide screens to work effectively.
LEAVING YOUR DESK
When you have finished with your desk please reset your desk to a height of 082 (pre-setting 1). This keeps our space visually tidy and uncluttered.
CLEAR DESK POLICY
Clear your desk when you finish for the day, even if you intend to use it the next day. Also clear all other work settings because a clear work setting is a sign that the space is free to use. This will also allow our cleaning colleagues to ensure that all work settings are kept clean and dust-free.
MEETING ROOM USE
When booking a room for your meeting consider the number of people that will be attending and try to book the appropriately sized room rather than 2 people using a 10 person meeting room.
NO CAMPING
Don’t ‘hog’ specific rooms or alternative work settings – please give others a chance to use them. Each work setting should be accessible for all. If you discover someone who is camping in a space, then we encourage you to politely remind them of the workspace etiquettes.
RESPECT OTHERS
Be aware of others and their work modes and don’t interrupt if people are focusing. Try to avoid having loud conversations in the general workspace – use a huddle room or booth. Avoid loud ringtones or noisy music on headphones as these can be disturbing too.
EATING ON THE GO
We all need to snack while we work. However, avoid eating messy or smelly food at the desk or other work settings – take a break and use the tables in the breakout space or cafes and outdoor spaces around Maxis. If you are snacking in the workspace, please ensure that you clear up afterwards.
HOUSEKEEPING
Take pride in your new workspace. Keep it tidy, report issues to facilities and respect your surroundings and those around you. The new working environment is an inviting space for staff, visitors and clients, and it is your collective responsibility to keep it this way.
PREPARE TO ADAPT
Embrace the change and try new things – lead by example. We encourage you to challenge those not following the agreed etiquette, but in a friendly manner. If you feel that the etiquette is not quite right, please provide suggestions on how it can be improved.
TABLE FOOTBALL
Use the table football with consideration to the meeting room next to it. If this is being used it may not be a good time to play.
